The 'Tourism in Crisis' memo is poorly written and confusing. It jumps around, the numbers are weird and inconsistent. I read it a few times to get uncluttered but it's just poorly written overall.
Could definitely be tidied up... Thanks for taking the time to write feedback.
The main points are that Chinese numbers are WAY down, particularly Chinese guests arriving as part of a tour group. Other markets are holding up better, but the overall picture isn't great.
Anecdotally, I've heard (specifically) that the way Thai authorities handled the kidnapping of the Chinese actor Wang Xing was received very poorly by the Chinese public and has been extremely damaging to sentiment.
I only came across the story of the Chinese actor being kidnapped, last week. Fascinating that, that could have such impact on tourism.
